\n

Join us as we\ncel ebrate the opening of The Color of Sound.\nParti cipating Artist Brad Johnson will speak about his work at 6pm.\n< /p>

The Color of Sound explores the relationship\nbetween art and synesthetic experience. It features artwork by artists who\nare synest hetes—who experience synesthesia\, the phenomenon by which\ncertain peop le experience one sense through another—as well as work by\nartists who\ , though not synesthetes\, seek to create synesthetic experiences\nfor vie wers. Synesthesia can take a wide variety of forms (perceiving\nletters or numbers as colors\, for example\, or associating a word with a\nscent or taste)\, but perception of sound as color or as shape has been\nparticular ly powerful for artists who have sought to convey synesthetic\nexperiences . The artwork in the exhibition ranges from paintings\, drawings\nand scul ptures inspired by the synesthetic experience of music to film\nprojection s and an immersive installation.

This event takes\nplace fr om 5-7pm and is free and open to the public.
