What if the story bega
n\nwith a banjo? With a residency trying to figure out writing songs? Perh
aps\na high gloss\, but busted life and ultimately a secessionist raising
in\nJackson\, Ohio? No wonder Elle King is hotter than a pepper sprout. Ev
en\nmore than ZFG attitude\, there’s the forthright attack on a life liv
ed\nfrayed at the edges and pulling at the scenes. Sure\, she had famous\n
parents\, but when it gets real for King\, it all happens with her Maw-Maw
\nand Paw-Paw in a scrappy Southern Ohio town that puts the “just” in\
ngetting by.
That humor is led by the title of the album\, Come \nGet Your Wife\, a wry reference to a putdown tossed her partner’s way\nby an alpha male during a spirited night of fun and games. She can d rink\,\nplay games and go toe-to-toe with the best of them so if you’re dishin’\nit out around Elle\, be ready to take it! With a tumble and Kin g’s power\ndelivery\, there’s no doubt about how things go down. That same fervor\ninforms the song “Ex’s &\; Oh’s” and “Try Jesus\ ,” awash in\nthick gospel choir wail and just enough church organ to wit ness.
Michigan Rattlers are a fo lk-rock band\ncomposed of Graham Young (guitar)\, Adam Reed (bass)\, Chris tian Wilder\n(piano)\, and Tony Audia (drums). Meeting as childhood friend s\, they began\nwriting music and performing together in their hometown of Petoskey\,\nMichigan.
Their self-titled Michigan Rattlers EP attra cted reviews\nfrom No Depression\, Bluegrass Situation\, B3 Science\, and Rolling Stone\, who\nnamed the band one of their “Ten New Country Artist s You Need To Know”\nin 2016. They’ve continued to evolve beyond the “country” label ever\nsince.
In 2018\, following a summer tour that included stops at\nBonnaroo\, Firefly and Electric Forest\; the band released their debut\nfull-length album\, 'Evergreen’. \"This is a band with solid songwriting\nchops and instrumental skills\,\" says No Depressi on. \"'Evergreen' shows this\nfour-piece from Petoskey\, Michigan making a stand\, making their way.\"
\nGrowing into a more expansive sound\, the band’s second full-length\nalbum\, ‘That Kind of Life’\, was re leased in 2021 to positive\nreviews.
With live shows being at the c ore of the band’s identity\,\nthe Rattlers continue to tour relentlessly \, bringing their honest\nsongwriting and high-energy rock n roll to stage s across the U.S. and\nCanada.
