Join\nar tist Ashley Larson in learning a sustainable and environmentally friendly\ nway to create art using contemporary fiber art techniques. Using an image \nas your inspiration\, recreate a favorite landscape using fiber and fabr ic\nto create a collaged piece. Using stitching techniques to secure the\n fabric\, adding texture and intricate designs to bring your collage to lif e.\nFinish your piece by mounting onto a wooden frame\, creating a one-of- a-kind\nwork of artwork. No experience necessary-just bring your creativit y.

All materials provided as part of this workshop. Students welco me to\nbring any materials of personal significance (thread\, fabric\, etc .) that\nthey might want to use.

Learn\nh ow to create a drypoint print on plexiglass in this 3.5 hour workshop.\nAr tist Willow Wells will guide you through each step of the process from\ntr ansferring the image onto the plexiglass to using etching needles to\nengr ave the surface to create lines and tones to form burrs that hold the\nink and produce rich\, textured prints. Discover the proper techniques for\ns oaking and drying paper\, inking your plate\, and wiping to highlight the\ nwhites and bring out the depth of your image. Add a unique touch of color \nby using different colored inks to bring vibrancy to your final prints.< /p>\n

Leave the workshop with a small edition of drypoint prints.

Willo w Wells was born in New England\, where she\ndraws inspiration from the ha unting beauty of old cemeteries and folklore.\nThese influences have shape d her artistic voice\, leading her to explore\nsymbolism in her work. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lyme\nAcademy College of Fine Arts\, studying the human figure and traditional\ntechniques. During her Master of Fine Arts at the University of South\nFlorida\, she explored body horro r concepts to examine metamorphosis\,\nblending figures with botanical ele ments. Later\, at the University of San\nFrancisco\, while working with Gr aphicstudio\, she learned reduction\nprintmaking\, bringing fresh color in to her work. Using painting\, drawing\,\nprintmaking\, and animation her w ork transcends verbal expression and\nexplores the metamorphic journey inv iting viewers to engage with and\nreflect upon the nuanced complexities of the human experience.
