Join SVMoA and Merlin's Magic Lantern for a screening of Our Mr. Matsura, a documentary that tells the story of Frank Matsura, a Japanese immigrant and gifted photographer who documented life in the American West in the early 20th century. Working in Okanogan, Washington, Matsura photographed the region’s landscapes, Indigenous communities, settlers, and everyday life with an unusual intimacy and sense of place. His images offer a rare and compelling view of a West in the midst of profound change, while revealing the distinctive eye of a photographer who found beauty and character in the people and landscape around him.
