ART HISTORY LECTURE: Who Shot Vincent? The Brilliance and Tragedy of Vincent Van Gogh

with Jim Caldwell

Wednesday, January 26, 2022 - 5:30 PM

Artist and architect Jim Caldwell will present a lecture about the fascinating life and mysterious death of Vincent Van Gogh. Virtually unknown during his lifetime, Vincent is now one of the most cherished artists in the entire history of art. Many consider him to be the father of modern art. His use of color, heavy pigmentation and abstractions introduced us to a whole new way of looking at the world. Although most believe that he committed suicide, new facts have come to light that challenge that notion. This presentation includes more than 50 of Vincent’s beautiful paintings.

About the Lecturer

Born in New York in 1942, Jim Caldwell has spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Williams College in 1964 as an art major and spent the next year in Paris studying printing and etching at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. In 1969 he received his Master of Architecture degree from the Yale School of Architecture. Jim has had over 45 one-man shows and his paintings are represented in more than 450 collections world-wide.

This lecture takes place in-person Wed, Jan 26, from 5:30–6:30pm.
