Artists in the Shadows: Women Who Turned Gardens into Art

with Carolyn Bennett

Tuesday, August 5, 2025 - 5:30 PM

Join Sun Valley Museum of Art and the Sawtooth Botanical Garden for a talk with author and garden historian Carolyn Bennett. An American Garden Club National Speaker, Bennett will discuss the overlooked history of women artists who turned to gardens for inspiration. Using their words and images of their work reflected in paintings, glass art, ceramics, needlework, fashion and sculpture, the audience will get to know the fascinating personalities of these women, be introduced to the societal and economic challenges they faced, and follow the circuitous routes they took to fulfill their passions for including garden splendor in their art. Enjoy refreshments and a stroll around the Garden following the talk.
