Join SVMoA and comics writer Joe Keatinge for an engaging talk tracing the comics roots and evolution of Batman, from his early noir-inspired beginnings to the many reinventions that have shaped the Dark Knight across decades of storytelling. The talk will be held at Forest Service Park, and the program will conclude with an audience Q&A.
Joseph Keatinge is the Editor-in-Chief of COMICS! The Magazine, the comic book industry's top magazine, and Editor of REKCAH Comics, overseeing projects like the Darknet Diaries adaptations and the cyber-sci-fi ongoing series The Future Is ******. He’s also a writer and narrative designer with work across comics and video games, including titles for Skybound, Marvel, DC, Image Comics, and Heavy Metal. His comic book writing credits include Shutter, Ringside, Glory, Tech Jacket, Stellar, Adventures of Superman, and Marvel Knights Hulk. His editorial experience includes his time as Executive Editor of the Eisner and Harvey award-winning anthology PopGun and Editor-in-Chief for Moonray by Brandon Graham. He consults with a variety of clients on storytelling and publishing. Joseph lives in the Mountain West with his family.
The talk complements a popup exhibition organized by the Sun Valley Museum of Art in collaboration with the family of Adam West and the City of Ketchum: Bright Knight: The Life & Legacy of Adam West, which will be on view from June 30 through August 14 at Forest Service Park. The exhibition explores West’s iconic, era-defining portrayal of Batman in the 1960s.
