Learn Japanese dying techniques, explore the possibilities of Indigo, and walk away with a stylish new custom-made hoodie!
Tie-dye a cotton hoodie using Japanese style Indigo dyeing. Explore the possibilities of Indigo with submersive dyeing and Shibori, a Japanese resist-dyeing technique that involves twisting and binding to create a vast array of patterns in the fabric. Hoodies will be provided as part of the workshop, but you are welcome to bring your own items to dye. Dyeable fabrics that work best for this process are wool, silk (100% animal protein fibers), 100% cotton, hemp or bamboo fibers.
Make sure to wear clothes and shoes that you won't mind getting some splashes of blue on!
Age & Ability: 12+ and up, all levels, beginners welcome!
This workshop takes place from 1–4pm at the Hailey Classroom.
