Learn enough in\nt hree days to play for a lifetime! Pocket sketching is the perfect\ntechniq ue for travel journaling\, hiking\, biking\, sauntering\, sitting in a\nca fé or the airport. This workshop will encourage participants to capture\n what they see using only a water-soluble pen\, a 4 x 6-inch pad of paper a nd\na small paint set. Pocket sketching is Ideal for the timid beginner an d the\nadvanced artist alike. Requiring minimal equipment\, it is portable and can\nbe done quickly\, with little clean-up.

This workshop inc ludes\nwatercolor techniques used by masters such as John Singer Sargent a s well\nas a complete and compact travel sketching supply kit.

Age and\nability: 17 and older\, beginners welcome!

About the Instructor

Kath Macaulay has been teac hing pocket\nsketching for more than 10 years around the U.S.A. and Canada . She has\npublished a book\, Pocket Sketching\, the Portable Workshop \, and\nproduced a popular show released nationally on PBS\, Pock et Sketching\nwith Kath Macaulay. Kath was the subject of a one-perso n exhibition at\nthe Chamizal\, El Paso\, Texas\, sponsored by Mexico and the United States\,\nwhich featured 56 paintings of National Parks in the western United\nStates.

Morgan Buckert builds\ncustom cowboy boots with bespoke patterns\, traditional construction\ntechniques \, and vintage machinery in Hailey\, Idaho. She is 7th generation\nof a Te xan ranch family and the influence of cowboy culture is evident in\nall he r work. Hailing from Goliad\, Texas\, Morgan has degrees from The\nUnivers ity of Texas at Austin and The University of New Mexico. Morgan\nstudied f ootwear at Penland School of Crafts and apprenticed with a master\nbootmak er in Idaho. Idaho Commission on the Arts has awarded her with three\ngran ts\, and she participated in the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship\nProgram.
