Originally a game invented by Surrealist artists in Paris in the 1920s, “Exquisite Corpse” is a collaborative activity designed to stimulate creativity. In this 2-day workshop, examine the history and concept behind the Exquisite Corpse, subjectivity and color theory. Participants will create collages and paintings in a collaborative environment, developing design and color relationship skills, collectively assembling words and images.
Participants are encouraged to bring images (drawings, photographs, magazine materials, etc.) to be used in the collaborative projects.
Age & Ability: 13-18 years, all levels, beginners welcome!
This workshop takes place Mon & Tue, June 12 & 13 from 10am–1pm.
About the Instructor
Benjamin Hunt is an artist living in Boise, Idaho. He received a BFA from Cornish College and is currently an MFA graduate student and teaching assistant in Visual Arts at Boise State University. He is an interdisciplinary artist, working between painting, fiber and collage and enjoys repurposing narratives in materiality and mythology. He has shown in the International Contemporary Art Fair in Kirchberg, Luxembourg, The Van Gogh Art Gallery in Madrid, Spain, and Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, Washington.
