Participants will create their very own woven wall hanging! During this workshop, we’ll cover the basics of tapestry design, weaving with texture and finishing stitches. By the end of our time together, everyone will have created a sampler of stitches and weaves and a one-of-a-kind wall hanging suitable for display, along with the knowledge and confidence to continue weaving.
Age and ability: 14 and older, beginners welcome!

About the Intructor
Rachael Mayer is a fiber artist based out of Boise, Idaho. With a BA in Anthropology & Ethnic Studies and an MFA in Studio Art, Rachael bridges her two areas of study by making work about communities, social networks and systems. She moved frequently as a child and young adult and uses her experiences traveling across the country with her family to contextualize social constructions within landscape and topography. She has interned at Arrowmont School of Arts & Crafts, has exhibited her work across the United States and has been published in the Surface Design Journal. Rachael grew up with a mother who quilted and uses sewing as a metaphor for connecting to community and the landscape around us. She has a MFA with an interest in fiber and paper sculptures.
