SPECIAL EVENT: Bilingual Community Printmaking Workshops (Session 1)

with Artist Christie Tirado

Sábado, Agosto 14, 2021 - 10:00 AM

Join printmaker Christie Tirado for a family-friendly printmaking workshop. Participants will make a portrait of a person who has been essential in their lives during the pandemic—a friend, a family member or someone else from the community. Each participant will make at least 2 impressions of their print—one to take with them, one for inclusion in SVMoA’s spring 2022 exhibition exploring the Mexican Graphic Tradition. Tirado will lead the workshop in Spanish and English, guiding participants as they work with Styrofoam plates to make their prints.

A graduate of the University of Washington, Christie Tirado is an artist and educator based in the Yakima Valley. Her work has been exhibited at galleries across the Pacific Northwest, including, most recently, at Davidson Galleries in Seattle. As a printmaker, Tirado, who is Mexican-American, is inspired by Mexico’s long tradition of graphic workshops.

Workshop is offered in two FREE sessions on Sat, Aug. 14:
Session 1: 10–11:30am
Session 2: 12–1:30pm

Workshop is for all ages & abilities; families welcome!
