Awaken your creativity and create trip souvenirs that you will treasure. In this 5-day intensive, learn how to capture a travel scene or still life in ink and Prismacolor. Each 3-hour class will start with a slide show in the Museum classroom, then go outside to sketch, and end with a group critique back in the Museum classroom. The inspiration for our travel drawings will be Jim’s good friend and artist, Bill Fain.
All materials and supplies will be provided and are part of the tuition.
Age & ability: 18+, all levels, beginners welcome!
This 5-session workshop will take place Monday-Friday, Aug 4–8, from 9:30am–12:30pm daily.
About the Instructor
Born in New York in 1942, Jim Caldwell has spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from Williams College in 1964 as an Art Major and spent the next year in Paris studying printing and etching at the École des Beaux Arts. In 1969, he received his Master of Architecture Degree from the Yale School of Architecture. Jim has had over 45 one-man shows, and his paintings are represented in more than 450 collections worldwide. Jim’s Sun Valley connections go back to the 1950’s. Jim has been teaching drawing and painting for more than 20 years.
