Learn enough in three days to play for a lifetime! Pocket sketching is the perfect technique for travel journaling, hiking, biking, sauntering, sitting in a café or the airport. This workshop will encourage participants to capture what they see using only a water-soluble pen, a 4 x 6-inch pad of paper and a small paint set. Pocket sketching is Ideal for the timid beginner and the advanced artist alike. Requiring minimal equipment, it is portable and can be done quickly, with little clean-up.
This workshop includes watercolor techniques used by masters such as John Singer Sargent as well as a complete and compact travel sketching supply kit.
Age and ability: 17 and older, beginners welcome!
This 3-day workshop takes place Sun–Tue, Jul 11–13, from 9:30am–4pm daily.
About the Instructor
Kath Macaulay has been teaching pocket sketching for more than 10 years around the U.S.A. and Canada. She has published a book, Pocket Sketching, the Portable Workshop, and produced a popular show released nationally on PBS, Pocket Sketching with Kath Macaulay. Kath was the subject of a one-person exhibition at the Chamizal, El Paso, Texas, sponsored by Mexico and the United States, which featured 56 paintings of National Parks in the western United States.
