In this class, we will learn the basic principles of self-portraiture with a focus on the idea of a self-portrait as a “map of our interior world.” Students will learn how to use introspection and artistic techniques to express themselves while having fun and letting go of the fear of making mistakes. Over the course of the two-day workshop, students will use different materials and exercises to help understand the possibilities of emotional expression through art.
Age & Ability: 18 and older, beginners welcome, free childcare provided on-site.

About the Instructor
Artist Luz Camarena Quiroz’s paintings and sculptures reflect what she sees and how she responds to everyday interactions with nature and the human spirit.
Born in Mexico City, Luz Camarena Quiroz began studying one-on-one with various artists from different parts of Mexico in the 1990s. She received formal training at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, OR, and at Bellas Artes and Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Boise State University.
