Call to Idaho Artists

Idaho Rivers/Idaho Artists Exhibition, September 13–28, 2024

The Sun Valley Museum of Art invites Idaho artists to submit images of up to 5 works of art for consideration for display in a two-week exhibition at the Museum on the theme “Idaho Rivers.” (See application specifications below.)

Artists may submit images of two-dimensional or three-dimensional artwork made between 2022 and 2024 in any medium related to the idea of Idaho Rivers. 

TIMELINE

March 22, 2024 — Call for submissions
May 17, 2024 — Application Deadline
June 7, 2024 — Notice of juror’s selections
September 6, 2024 — Receipt deadline for accepted artwork
September 13, 2024 — Exhibition opens
September 28, 2024 — Exhibition closes and artists collect artwork

Sawtooth National Recreation Area Artist-in-Residence 2024

The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (Sawtooth NRA) and Sun Valley Museum of Art seek candidates for a 2-week Artist-in-Residence project during late September/early October 2024.

One visual artist-in-residence will be selected to participate in a residency in the Sawtooth NRA during fall 2024. The Sawtooth NRA will provide the selected artist with 2 weeks lodging in or near the Sawtooth NRA, and SVMoA will provide the artist-in-residence with a $500 stipend. Lodging may be in either shared or private U.S. Forest Service housing. Artists are responsible for their own transportation, materials, and any required preparation of artwork for exhibition.

The artist-in-residence will create work that responds to a particular aspect of the Sawtooth NRA, including but not limited to: wildlife, geology, ecosystems, scenery, or human history.

Applications are due Monday, June 24, 2024.

WHO MAY APPLY

Visual artists over the age of 18 working in any medium are welcome to apply. This includes but is not limited to: painters, sculptors, photographers, filmmakers, fiber artists. 

HOW TO APPLY

Please include the following:

  • a cover letter describing your interest in the Sawtooth NRA and your plan for the residency, and 1-2 potential outreach programs
  • a resume
  • a sample of your artistic work – up to 10 images submitted as jpegs
  • names and contact information for 3 professional references
