FREE OPENING CELEBRATION & GALLERY WALK: Unraveling: Reimagining the Colonization in the Americas

Friday, March 8, 2019 - 5:00 PM

Join us for refreshments as we celebrate the opening of Unraveling: Reimagining the Colonization in the Americas. The history of colonization in the Americas has traditionally been taught as a straightforward story of European conquest of indigenous cultures and expansion across territories already settled by native peoples for millennia. What does this linear history omit? What are the possibilities for reimagining or reinterpreting colonial history from the indigenous point of view? This project revisits American history, offering alternative perspectives and narratives based both in fact and in fiction, including some rooted in the Wood River Valley. Part of the BIG IDEA project Unraveling: Reimagining the Colonization in the Americas, Mar 8-May 22, 2019.
